3D Printing for Novices: Give it a Try

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Watch live 3D printing on a Makerbot Replicator 2. 3D printing creates excitement and interest but is it more than the current technological fad? Investigate curriculum connections and how 3D printing skills relate to future careers: biological modeling, law, jewelry design, fashion, and entrepreneurship and more. Search for premade designs shared on Thingiverse and explore the design creation tool Tinkercad. We will consider ways to utilize 3D printing stations while examining actual student work samples and photographs. Will 3D printing change the world? That’s the question I pose to students. This session is ideal for teachers, librarians, tinkers, and makers who are new to 3D printing. The focus will be on exploring curriculum connections and the first steps to setting up a 3D printing station in a makerspace. No experience necessary.
